When I thought about what cartoon to do for MCW, there was only one that came to mind. Toy Story. The PIXAR movies have turned into my most favorite. Last summer, when a 3-D double feature of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 came out, I took a day off work and treated myself to a day at the movies. They were just as wonderful as I remember. I don't care that I'm 30... I cannot wait for Toy Story 3. I'll be there to see the magic continue.
SO, there's another reason why Toy Story is fitting for my selection. My first job was as a Hostess at a restaurant called Harrigan's. I worked there all through high school and loved it. I was 16, and thought it was awesome to have my own money. Anyway, I had always thought the manager, Scott, looked just like Woody from Toy Story. I mean, he was tall and kind of lanky. He had a bit of a big forehead and dark hair. But what really stood out were his big eyes. I mean, he really could have been a real life Woody. It was hilarious to me. So much so, that I always talked about it to my family.
Now, my mom and stepdad would come in to eat every so often, but my dad and stepmom came just about every Sunday after church, with the little sisters in tow. And what is it about younger siblings having an innate ability to mortify you when you least expect it? It happened to me at work one day, but it wasn't my baby sisters fault. She was three and didn't know any better.
My dad and stepmom and the girls, who were three and seven, are sitting at their table, enjoying their Sunday brunch. I stop by the table to for a quick visit and to say hi, when Scott, the manager, stops by to say hello, too. And then it happened. My three year old baby sister gasps in excitement, simultaneously stands up in her chair, claps her hands and innocently yells "Woody! Woody! It's Woody!" I died. Right then and there. I had NEVER mentioned to my manager about me thinking he looks like Woody from Toy Story. Ever. My face turned 8 shades of red, I'm sure. My other sister is cracking up. My dad is trying to keep his composure, while my stepmom does too. She grabs my baby sister to sit back down, and under her chuckles says in a tone you speak to a three year old, "Cate, his name isn't Woody, his name is Scott."
I can still see the whole scene in my mind. Scott just stood there, looking a little confused, but gracious, his big Woody eyes darting around the restaurant looking for an escape from the situation. He says "good to see you" or something to that effect, and walks on. I was mortified. I don't think I ever told Scott what all that was about. And, it was then when realized little sisters can ruin your life. :)
So, in honor of my old manager, Scott, aka Woody, and my love of Toy Story, please enjoy my favorite clip. (I couldn't find a good quality clip in the three minute time restraints, so this one is a *tad* over.)

Great story and great pick, especially because it means so much to you. I loved Toy Story and don't think I saw the sequel. I've always though Conan O'Brien looked like Woody.

A little boy thought my dad was Woody from Toy Story a few years ago. He still runs over and says hi to my parents when he sees them. My dad loves it.

The clawwwwww. I forgot how good this movie was. I was actually thinking of this when I chose Shrek. It was close, but I think Shrek has a little more adult type humor and a scotish accent.

Fave Harrigan's Memory: Kymmie sitting at table with dad and stepmom and step-sisters. Unknown to her, Mom and stepdad sitting in atrium. Suddenly, a Dr. Pepper mysteriously appears in front of Kymmie, courtesy of a waiter saying that the Dr. Pepper was from "Ricky and Bobby" (neighborhood boys?) but really from stepdad John ... and the look on Kym's face as her eyes darted around restaurant looking for the boys before finding stepdad John probably laughing hysterically behind his menu. Awwww, those $1 champagne days at Harrigans. I still miss them.

Good clip, a great story!
Started laughing after the 3rd paragraph because I knew where it was going. Awesome. Love the scene where Woody pops out with Buzz's arm and the dinosaur cheeks puff up because he's going to throw up. Happy MCW Kym.
Toy Story is one of the FEW animated movies I actually dig.
Liked the story better than the movie. Ha. But it was a pretty good flick. I just saw the preview for a new one that's coming out this year I think.
