Let the INSANITY Begin.

Hoe. Lee. Crap. So, on my new journey of my thirty first year, I've decided that I'm GOING to get in shape. I know, I know, I've said it time and time again. But I'm serious now. More serious than I've ever been. Ever.

It all started tonight. INSANITY. Google it. Then please question my sanity, because I think I've lost my mind. Apparently, this is one hard ass, hard core cardio workout. It isn't meant for beginners. (which, pretty much, I am.) But as some of you know, I go big or go home. It's a 60 day program, Everyday, but Sunday. Each workout is between 30-45 minutes, and by the last two weeks of the program, you''re burning 800-1000 calories per workout. I might die.

Husband and I thoroughly cleaned the garage, set up the spare tv and the playstation to play the DVDs. It's still out outside. 85+. ACK. We got everything squared away and my sister and her friend came over to join me on my journey. UM.... they are 24. I'm NOT. It's humbling. Regardless, it's always easier for me to workout with someone. I don't wuss out, and being naturally competitive, I'm going to push myself harder to keep up with them. Because, well, aren't we all 24 in our minds? I know I am.

Anyway - I'm going to track my progress (minus my measurements, which I did take today, I'm just not sharing. Gross.) on the blog. Anything that keeps me more accountable. Hey - If I don't post about this for a while, ask me about it! Get me on here tracking the results!
Today was day one. The Fit Test. I am not fit. Not to the standards of INSANITY. Here's a list of the "items" to tackle on the Fit Test: (60 seconds to complete each task.) In between each move, you get one minute to write down your progress and catch your breath. BUH.

Hey, a quick 5 minute warm up and stretch to get prepared for the test! I got this!
Sean T, the "host" is a really good motivator. He makes you (me) want to keep going. He's got two people with him in this video doing the moves with us. I can't remember the guy's name, but the girl is Tonya. She's cute and totally fit and in shape. Sean T. seems to like her a lot. I'm not so sure they aren't seeing each other on the outside of the videos. Just sayin.

Switch Kicks. I did 45. Little sister: 45. I'm feeling good about myself at this point. Sure, my legs could go a little higher, but hey. I've still got it. Go me.

Power Jacks: Not your average jumping jack. Instead of scissor kicking your legs out to your side, you sort of pull them up and out like a frog. Yeah. Me: 18. LS: 40. BUH!. I nearly died after this one. Look. I hate jumping. I've got boobs. It hurts. But - no excuses. No pain, no gain!

Power Jumps: Same thing, without the Jack. Me: 20. LS: 25. Whatever.

Power Squats: Um. suck. So, not just the traditional squat. You start by jumping up, landing soft into a squat, hands touching the ground. Again, reminds me of a frog like maneuver. Now, when you jump back up, jump to the right, and land softly in the squat. Come back up and jump back, then then next one jump left, then back up. Basically you squat jumps in a square. One full rotation (4 total squats) equals 1 power squat. Me: 5. LS: 8. Yeah, it sucks.

Suicide Jumps: You know theses. You jump up then squat down into a ball, kick your feet out into a push up position, come back to the squat ball, jump back up. Over and over and over and over. Me: 9 LS: 9. She had way better form than me. Did I care about my form at that moment in my life? Nope. Sure didn't. Tonya: 32. Bite me Tonya.

Push Up Jacks: Let me tell you what. I can't do a normal push up, let alone a push up jack. But I tried. Again, awful form, but something is better than nothing, right? So, you get in the military push up position. As you bend your arms to keep your chest "4 to 5 inches off the ground" (gerherhahahhahahha! sure.), your legs are meant to kick out from straight behind you to a V shape, spread apart. And when you come back, bring your legs back to straight behind you. UM... ok. Me: 8. LS: 18. I died. Right there in the middle of that torture, er... exercise, I died.

Finally, the last Fit Test challenge.

Low Plank Obliques: You want to trim your waist? You want to build your core, torso, abs, into a washboard? Low Plank Obliques are for you. You get in the low plank position, on your forearms, with your legs behind you, supported by your feat. I'm good at holding the plank position for quite some time. But that's not what we do here for Low Plank Obliques!!! Oh no. Now that you're in the plank position, bend your right leg up to your waist (I imagine from above, you'd look like a numeric 4. Again, sort of frog like.) Bring your leg back straight behind you, and do the same thing with your left leg. That counts as one. Me: 10. LS: 26.

Anyway. I'm sure the morning is going to come entirely way to soon, and hopefully I won't have any problems getting out of bed. Bring on day two. I'll show day two whats what.
